I am a 14 year old girl and my but has gotten a lot bigger after I got my period which was two years ago. I am only 4`10" and 93 pounds so I don't know if it's because I'm fat something. . . Why do women have a curve in there lower back once they enter puberty? Is it for pregnancy when we get older and what are the advantages?

we have curves all along our spines, the cervical spine (top of the neck) curves inwards to support the head, and curves outwards and peaks at the shoulder blades, to give more room in the rib cage. Without this curvature the internal organs in the chest cavity would be squashed. This is called flat back or military back. The lower back (lumbar) curves inwards like the cervical spine (neck) to maintain posture and good orbital gravity (balance) Excessive curvature can be very painful. A spine which curves to the side is scoliosis, everyone on earth has this to at least 10degrees of curve. Usually scoliosis develops most in puberty and if it exceeds 20 degrees it will require medical treatment
Because your hips get bigger, so that you can bear a child.
