I was listening to our local NPR's last Sunday's Opera broadcast; and if I'm not mistaken - correct me if wrong - listened to the final segment of the above entitled - I had never even heard of it. It was not completed by Strauss, but another.
There's no You Tube video performance of any part of it that I could locate; and am only able to come up with these references:
Amazon.com: http://search.yahoo.com/search;_ylt=A0oGdXHRYrdRqR...
And this Wikipedia article, listing it amongst Strauss' operas: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_operas_by_Ric...
I'm really curious about this work; so if you have heard or even possibly seen a performance of it, please respond.
Thank you very much,
Alberich
Update:@@@@ "wvcultur...": best of luck. Be sure if you will so please, to edit your response; should you come across one - hope you are a better 'researcher' than I am.

There is this from OPERA NEWS
http://business.highbeam.com/3766/article-1G1-1938...
"Inspired by a request from the headmaster of his grandson's grammar school, the eighty-three-year-old Richard Strauss undertook his last (unfinished) work, The Donkey Shadow, so that the schoolchildren might have their very own Strauss "singspiel" to perform. The thought of these youngsters actually presenting this work is hilarious, as it is truly Straussian in its vocal demands, if not in its scale. …..."
Apparently performed at the Montpellier festival 2004. Here is a link to the review

I thought that I had all of his operas on disc, but you stumped me with this one. I'll have to research it for myself.
