I have cruised to Bermuda twice and been to St George both times. Its really just a small town, and I do mean small, with a few stores, a town square, a restaurant and cafe or two, and that's it. The best things about St George are its close to a couple beaches and Fort St Catherine, if you like to visit forts. If you want to snorkel then you can walk from St George to Tobacco Bay, about 3/4 mile, and there is a small beach with flat water, a lot of coral rocks to snorkel around. Then in a slightly different direction is another beach, also about a mile away, near the Fort.
The best and most beautiful beaches are Horseshoe Bay Beach and Elbow Beach which you can easily get to by the public transportation bus. Bother are on the other side/end of the island. A couple other attractions near St George are Fantasy Cave and Crystal Cave, if you like that type thing. You wouldn't think that in Bermuda where you are very few feet above sea level there would be caves, they do have water in them.
The town of Hamilton is the largest on the island and its kinda interesting. It has a few stores, a grocery store, a museum, an old church and a few restaurants and bars. The main bus depot where you can catch or transfer to buses going to the beaches is just a block off of main street. Its very safe to ride the buses all over the island.
The Kings Dockyard is on the opposite end of the island from St George and it has a small shopping mall, a museum, and a new water attraction/beach called Snorkel Park at the Dockyard
