I have the Samsung Epic 4G and an annoyance is that you cannot mute the shutter sound on the camera, even if the phone is on silent. I find this weird because before I had ever bothered to listen to the different types of shutter sounds available that I could set the noise to, the shutter had been silent. And as soon as I clicked on one of the different noises, there was no way I could set the shutter on silent again. >:( Not happy. Anyways, I went online and looked up ways to turn off the sound, and there isn't much unless you root your phone, which I have not and do not plan on doing. this is what i have found:
I found this in another forum and will attempt this myself
Method 1
• Create a file called "local.prop" in /data/ if it is not there already. e.g. "/data/local.prop"
• Open the file "/data/local.prop"
• Add a line to file: ro.camera.sound.forced = 0
• Reboot and all the sounds the camera application is completely silent.
• To restore the sound, you can either change or delete the file local.prop code: ro.camera.sound.forced = 1
so my question is, what does it mean by "add a line" ?
do i create another folder inside that folder or do i add it to that title of the same folder? SOMEONE HELP, IT'S ANNOYING TO HEAR THE SHUTTER GO OFF EVERY TIME I TAKE A PICTURE!
