So I'm pretty sure I trapped a male black widow under a cup. The cup is sitting on a folded blanket. I trapped the spider under the cup last tuesday, so this marks the 4th day it is under the cup. No food, no water, yet it's still alive. It seems to be growing larger...IT just wont die! How long will it take to die off? It's creeping me out!

use some type of spray cleaner like windex or something to clean the bathroom ... set it to stream so you can be far enough away and soak him ... he will die pretty quickly ... or you can just let him die under the cup but in my experience that takes quite a while and one time i kicked the cup by accident ...
I would just let it live. The odds of you having a male black widow are very low, and even if you did, the males are harmless. Research the steatoda genus, particularly steatoda triangulosa. you might also try the parasteatoda genus, and the tegenaria genus, all of which are harmless.Again, male black widows are harmless (it is the female that is medically significant) and can be released without worry. If you are trying to starve it, well, cobweb spiders can go months without food.
i have black widows in my house too... i hate them!!
Smash it with a hammer. If that don't kill it nothing will.
