I have known a lot of students who were A students (not because they were smart, but because they were dedicated in studying and doing well) and maintained jobs to help their families. However, if you get a job, there will be no room for procrastination, you have to have a set schedule and let your friends know that your busy in advance so you wont be tempted to do anything out of schedule. hope that helps! =)
It really depends on how many classes you're taking. I'm a high school senior and do freelance web designing after school. Since I'm only taking 4 classes, 3 of which are AP Calc, AP English and AP Government, I'm maintaining As.
