I'm a 16 year old male and I went for a physical and did a urine sample. They found a large ammount of protein, i did an at home urine test..same result.. today i had an ultra sound on my kidneys. they'll have results in a few days.. but im curious, what are some possible reasons. could it be serious?

I have a cousin with kidney problems, and his doctors became concerned when he had too much protein in his urine. He takes medicine, and is doing fine. I just remember a decade ago, his doctor warning him about high protein in his urine.
During pregnancy when my urine test showed excessive amounts of protein, the doc asked if I'd been eating a high-salt diet recently, so that could be a factor.
The problem could be that you're taking in too much protein and not drinking enough water which should be 8 8oz glasses per day. Drinking lots of water flushes your system.
Could be as simple as dehydration or excess protein consumption. Worst case scenario, kidney disease. I think you will be fine though. Hope you get well
