If you're keeping a job search record and you go onto an unemployement extension in NY they ask to see your job search record. I'm asking this to people who have been on it and asked to see their record, not just guessing about the following question:
If you apply to a lot of jobs on craigslist a lot of times the company name is not listed. So all you could put down is something like "furniture company" but the heading on the form asks for name address and phone number of the employer you applied to.
Will they accept just "furniture company"? Also if you decide to put the email addess these craigslist ads use their own long random address (third party) with several random letters and several random numbers and then ' jobs at craigslist'. After several days the address isn't even functional anymore.
These addresses are long and don't even fit on the form spaces and are the employer's own contact address
basically what I have for an entry is
a date,
furniture store (generic)
"email" ( just the word "email" under method of contatct
sales, (position)
If they check it is that enough? Or should I at least write out that long random craigslist intermediary send to address ?
thanks

Official Answer:
There appears to be wrong information posted here. Most if not all postings are performed online today. This includes all job posting sites on the Internet. Employers prefer email as the premiere tool to review applicants electronically via email and their own company websites. Unemployment absolutely is aware of today's marketplace and the tool used for searching is by computer primarily. Most if not all of the time, you cannot meet onsite to apply unless you have an opportunity by email or company website first if accepted. You will absolutely have no problem showing your search documented in the way you described. Just show the website, company name or contact and email used if available, date and status if available.

The jobs posted on craigslist are not legitimate job postings. Unemployment is not going to count any job you applied to where you do not know who the employer is. Applying for jobs on craigslist is a waste of time because all you are doing is providing your personal information to scammers. You are not really looking for work if you are applying to jobs on craigslist. Unemployment will not allow you to search for a job by only applying to online job postings. You need to use more than one work search method and you need to apply for jobs more than 1 day per week. You need to apply in person, by telephone, by mail, etc. You will be disqualified from receiving unemployment if you continue to apply to bogus ads on craigslist.
