There aren't really any similarities between WP and Agent Orange except that they were both used by the military during the Vietnam war. Both are chemical compounds, WP was weaponized several ways but most commonly was used in making WP grenades. The grenade itself wasn't intended as an anti-personnel weapon but rather as a means to destroy equipment such as weapon or munitions storage areas. Agent Orange was a chemical used in liquid form as a means to clear foliage from the jungle in Vietnam. Agent Orange was not weaponized nor was it used as a weapon. Additionally, Agent Orange wasn't tested very well and caused severe health problems for U.S. Service members exposed to it.
white phosphorus is a very effective incendiary. it was used extensively in wars up to, but not including desert storm. agent orange is a defoliant, used to kill huge swaths of vegetation in vietnam to deny overhead cove to the v.c. it was sprayed from american aircraft.
agent orange was used to get rid of forrest and vegetation, where white phosphorus was put into grenades and burned and caused a smoke screen for people to move through. it was also used to blow up fuel, ammo, people, since it burns at such high temps.

As different as 2,4,5-Trichlorophenoxyacetic acid and Phosphorus can be. Two entirely different chemicals.
"Agent Orange" was a defoliant...not unlike what was used to remove weeds and brush from highway medians.
WP is used as a screening (smoke) agent with some incendiary properties
