Shantaram
by Gregory David Roberts Gripping story. Beautiful descriptions of India and its people. Rhetorical dialogue provides provocative one-line philosophical nuggets:
"Civilization, after all, is defined by what we forbid, more than what we permit." This book was highly entertaining, though sometimes annoyingly preachy and deliberately epigrammatic.
I don't have a favorite book. But I have three favorite series:
1. Wicked Lovely Series by Melissa Marr
2. 13 To Life Series by Shannon Delany
3. Clan Of The Cave Bear Series by Jean M. Auel
That's on my reading list. You would probably like "A Fine Balance" by Vikram Seth.
I really loved "Water for Elephants" by Sara Gruen. It's not for everyone though I guess.
Edit: Oops..yes, I started on "A Suitable Boy" just after reading "A Fine Balance". "A Suitable Boy" is long! 1488 pages. Only do it if you're committed.
My all time favorite book is The Outsiders by S.E Hinton.
I enjoyed the secret series, it's a bit juvinille but so am I so... I guess it worked out. :)
