Why does my RPM guage flutter so much?
It'll hesitate to show its running, and even fultter up and down. I can tell its not my engine when orb shoots to 5 but theres not a roar in there. it also portrays a really high RPM, fast. like i floor it, and it shows 7G when my engine hasnt even felt the gas.

loose connection most likely at the distributor or dist. module. could be a sensor depending on how the motor is set up. if those check good then it is most likely in the dash, such as the tach is bad
Most analogue tachometers do have a spring and damper system to stabilize the needle. I suspect the damper has failed.
