They want a piece of future profits generated every time their work is used....no matter how, when or where these profits are generated. Jay Leno was recently criticized for writing his own jokes on the "Tonight Show". Writers used to write his jokes for him ,before they went on strike. Virtually everything but reality TV and talk shows are shut down.
