i know this sounds lame but i have a 1970 charger and i want to know what upgrades i need to be able to get it to wheelie. What do i need to make it have 300hp more then it already has?
Only full race drag cars have enough horsepower to pull wheelies, and they are not only far from stock and undriveable on the street, but are not street legal and cost upwards of 150k to start. Leave your car alone and don't watch so many movies. Adding 300 HP to your car would NOT make it pull wheelies.
A dodge charger is a ridiculously heavy vehicle, i should know as i have a 68 440.
You cannot get it to pop up a wheely without it practically not be a charger any more. You would need a twin turbo racing engine as well as a custom done frame and lighter panels etc to actually get a wheely.
Needless to say, trying to get a charger to wheely is a pointless endeavor, and it is worth more for you to keep your charger as is instead of hacking it into a prostreet of sorts.
If you want wheelies you should just buy a motorcycle, particularly a sportbike and learn to ride.
Sorry man, but have fun with the charger anyways, dont do anything stupid to it and make sure to bring it to shows.
Saw one at the strip years ago, '70 Charger, all metal, what was left was metal, radically modified tilt front end, owner fabbed fiberglass front bumper, no headlights/parking lights, eight point roll cage tied to front and rear stub frames, rear stub frame offset for 12 inch slicks, owner built frame connectors, no interior other than driver seat, Lexan side windows that did not go down, highly lightened car, etc., etc. Owner didn't mind me checking out chassis modifications.
Very secretive about engine, but appeared to be normally aspirated big block with massive single four barrel carb, owner did say it had a custom cam, I heard the very choppy idle, 2 1/4 inch primary headers, custom pistons and valve train. Rumor had the engine dynoed at 750+ horsepower, I can't say one way or the other. It left hard and carried the front wheels about six inches high for half a car length or so, arrived and left the track in an enclosed trailer.
The wheel stand in the Fast and Furious was done with pistons on casters under the car, a wheel stand that high adds to the quarter mile time, slows trap speed and is extremely dangerous due to lack of initial steering off the line.
Leave your Charger as is or modify it with bolt on components, the car is more valuable as is than modified.
High lobe cam, with that u have to upgrade your heads and everything in there, I.e. rocker arms push rods and what not... a super charger would be the best bet here too, consistent power.... but a really important thing people tend to not realize, tires, u need high grip tires
