I have a 1990 chevy C1500 350 auto trans tbi.
Battery is good
Starter is good.
Battery cables are new.
Lights work, horn works fuel pump works.
When you turn key starter does nothing. At the junction box the orange wire with fuse that turns black is cut and so is a white wire that was loomed with it.
The starter has 3 wires hanging by it. POS battery, black or purple 10 ga and a little thicker wire that was on the post. There are 2 post on the starter with a stud on the starter motor.
What wires go where?
Thanks

The thicker wire goes on the post with the battery. These 2 can actually go on either post and then the wire that goes into the starter goes on the other post. The smaller wire goes on the connector on the side of the solenoid
Remove the smaller wires and isolate them. Have someone turn the key to the start position and check which wire has power with a test light. This wire goes on the solenoid post that has the S beside it. the other wires go on the other one. Sounds like you mixed them up when you changed the starter? The start wire is usually either pink or black with pink stripe. The big wire is just the hot off of the battery and the feed to the fuse panel. The other smaller wires will be the feed to accessory. You should also be using a service manual with a wiring diagram. These have loads of other information in them too along with wiring diagrams(includes wire colors), how to's and illustrations to help you out. It's worth the money for any car. Alldata(online service manual) is what most pros use.
