I have now had a headache that has lasted since September 2nd. It is a server headache that effects both sides of my head as well as front and back and neck. It pinches, it throbs, it painfully pulses, my ears and eyes feel like they are going to pop and my head feels tight and the pain is unbearable. I for some time, at least over a year have been seeing black and white flashes and lines sluggishly move across my eyes, but never did I experience such horrible head pain, up until september.
My symptoms are not limited to my head though, I get strange numbness in my hands and feet, they tingle, become "asleep" easier, and I get heavy cold sensations, and deep muscle aches. I am 22 years old and at times I can not get out of bed, due to all over body pain and this massive headache. A few weeks after my headache began I went to my doctors who gave me migraine medicine and antidepressants and told me to see a therapist. She sent me to get my eyes checked out, which came back 20/20... After maybe a 3 days of taking the few medications and seeing absolutely no improvement, I was sent to see a neurologist, who had me get an MRI and gave me even more migraine medicine, convinced this would help. My MRI came back clean, with the exception of a cyst in my sinus, but i was told this happens and has nothing to do with my headache, and stress should be to blame, take this medicine and get a massage. So I did. Nothing.
Now here I am in November, taking a different kind of anti depressant aimed more at headache maintenance and MIDRIN, Neither seem to be doing any good. I want to go at least one day with out this headache, and neither of the doctors can offer any kind of explanation as to why this is happening, HELL, they cant even tell me if it is actually a migraine. I have had blood tests, pee tests, this test, that test and from the looks of all of them I seem to be a healthy 22 year old. But I have been given some of the strongest migraine medication, oxy, antidepressants, and nothing and I mean NOTHING seems to make this pain go away, they simply make me restless and even more uncomfortable. There has to be SOME reason I am feeling this way, and why is it sooo hard to figure it out? I just want to curl up in a ball and die, I dont know how much more of this pain I can handle.
Someone out there, please tell me if you have gone through this, what did you do, have you had any resolution, am I doomed to a life of this pain that will never go away? Please help me, I am clueless, scared and getting any answers is harder then pulling teeth. There has to be something I can do!!

I understand that this probably wont give you very much relief since your pain is so severe but when I get migraines I do acupuncture on my feet by rubbing the tips and bottoms of all my toes, I know this sounds ridiculous but its is a pressure point and it really does help me. Also do not drink anything with red dye in it, red dye increases risk of a headache. I hope you get better soon. Oh yea and ("if you are in a state where it is legal") maybe you should try medical marijuana as a last resort. I mean hey It could work.
Migraine headache is caused by vasodilatation (enlargement of blood vessels) that causes the release of chemicals from nerve fibers that coil around the large arteries of the brain. Enlargement of these blood vessels stretches the nerves that coil around them and causes the nerves to release chemicals. The chemicals cause inflammation, pain, and further enlargement of the artery. The increasing enlargement of the arteries magnifies the pain.

The sympathetic nervous system is often thought of as the part of the nervous system that controls primitive responses to stress and pain, the so-called "fight or flight" response, and this activation causes many of the symptoms associated with migraine attacks; for example, the increased sympathetic nervous activity in the intestine causes nausea, vomiting and uneasiness.There is no specific remedy for this malady. The patients suffer all their life time. Only preventive medicine may be given. It has to be preferred according to the patient's response.Begin with atenolol and cyproheptadine in small doses and increase as per the response. cyproheptadine may cause drowsiness and people who are engatged in moving machines should be cautious.
Migraine occurs due to constriction of arteries that supply blood to the brain as a result of which blood and oxygen supply to the brain is reduced. In turn the brain causes these arteries to enlarge or dilate in order to receive more blood and oxygen, and this dilation results in a severe head ache know as migraine.
It affects 10 to 15 percent of the global population. One peculiar feature of a migraine is that it usually starts in childhood or adolescence and is most common in young and middle-aged adults.
Recently, I read a medical article about migraines and the researcher-doctor who wrote the article said he gets migraine relief from exercise. So, that could be. Or, it could be that he has muscular tension-type headaches rather than migraines. Anyway, it might be worth a try.

Ah! Me too:( I've had one since Christmas day! I've never had a migraine so I haven't taken anything for it...mines isn't painful, it's just annoying:( if it keeps up after the new year then I'll make a doctors appointment! Mines is around the area of my left eyebrow, sometimes across my full forehead but not often. I hope you find a solution to your problem since yours is really sore! Good luck:)
