I bought 4 goldfish from the pet shop yesterday but they have all died in 1 day in th space of purchasing them from th petshop to putting them into the tanks.
Did you de-chlorinate your water prior to adding the fish to the tank?
Did you cycle your tank before adding any fish?
What sized tank did you purchase for 4 Goldfish?
Was the tank filtered?
Did you pour the fish bag water into your tank?
Did you acclimate your fish properly (no, not just sitting them in the tank for 15 minutes in the bag)?
There can be many factors as to why your fish died within one day of purchase so it may seem like a lot of questions I'm asking you, but in order for us to find out, we need to know this stuff.
I'm just a beginner here but even I can tell ya, we need more information. We can't just guess why they all died. We need to know the living conditions you put them in.
Also, your pet shop should have a warranty thing. If you got them all from Petco, they have a thing where you can take them back within 15 days and you can either get your money back or you can replace them. But you NEED to have the bodies of the fish lol.
"in the space of purchasing them from the petshop to putting them into the tanks"
The wording is misleading .... they died before making it into the tank?
I take "in the space of...." as meaning they died in the bag,or immediately out of the bag.
Too long in the bag,too much waste build-up,and low oxygen levels ... plus temperature fluctuations in transport... they were too weak to take the shock of new water chemistry.
Anytime you have more than one fish, they should be individually bagged for transport and the bags placed in a stable temperature (a cooler works to control this) for transport.
Water wasn't the right temp, they were already dying...a multitude of things really. Take them back to the petshop and tell them, they should replace them. Most of them do that as a courtesy.
Did you acclimate them to the new tank properly? You can't just throw fish from one tank to another, there's a whole series of steps you need to take to do it properly. See the link below.
