Right, bearded dragons have a different diet to other reptiles. Baby beardies (about 0-6/7 months) should be fed on a diet of 80% insects and 20% veg. You can feed them with a range of different insects but the best and cheapest to stick to are crickets, meal/wax worms and locusts. They can be fed on a variety of veg also. The best veg you can feed bearded dragons are veg like grated carrots and rocket, you can google this anyway. Just don't feed it iceberg lettuce. As I mentioned, when younger, they should be fed on a diet of 80% insects and 20% veg. You can regulate this by providing a 3/4 full food bowl of veg every day and feeding it 8-12 insects every other day. However, when beardies grow up, their diet needs to change. Adult beardies, from 7 or 8 months + should be on a diet of 80% veg and 20% insects. This can be regulated by providing it a full food bowl of veg every day, making sure it is refilled at least once a day if most is eaten. Then simply feed it 6-10 insects every other day. So the diet of babies and adults doesn't really change that much.
The insects really do not cost that much. Where I get them, it costs me $1.90/£1.19 per tub. However, you will also need to care for the insects you are feeding the beardie. You can feed them simply by putting crumbs of dog biscuits in the tub or the best method, using gut loading insect food. Always remember though, the insects you are feeding your beardie should be no bigger than the distance between your beardies eyes and should always be coated in calcium supplements.
hi First opt to thanks for attempting to help this beardie out =) o.k. supply him about 20 tremendous crickets an afternoon Have clean vegetables and collards another day avialable. Mealworms are good each and every once in a while like a million a week they should be used extra as a take care of then there major nutrients plan. If he's skinny like you assert supply him some meal worms could make him chuffed and could get him fatter. If he's larger than 14 inches may opt to furnish him a pinky. good source of supplementations. good luck
