Hi Tom F,
Hey man, sorry to hear that. Usually, a disciplinary hearing could result in a write up or final warning. It depends on the company's policy. If you've never done anything like that before, you might just get a warning.
What they usually do is look at your work record. Some of the things they look at could include your lateness, previous call outs, unexcused absence, etc.
Not telling you what to do, but sometimes people use family emergencies to help them out of a work related jam.
Good Luck!
Jason
They can surely sac you. You are in serious business. You must had been at work on saturday. You was aware of the fact that your presence in office is most important on saturday, so you must had avoided the party on friday night. In words of Warren Buffet, "if you buy things that you don't need, soon you will have to sell things you need"
It seems, you are going to face the same situation in near future.
If you worked for me you would have been considered a "quit" when you didn't show up or call.
Yes, they can and most likely will "sack" you. As they should.
