Chinese grammar usage?
Hello,
I'm reviewing from an old Chinese textbook and I am trying to figure out the meaning of "本" in this context - I'm not really looking for translations of the example sentences, but for how to use 本.
用在名词前。指自己或自己所在的集体，机构或者地方。例如-
1。本报记者最近就生日礼物的问题作了一项调查。
2。 一位家住本市姓李的女同学一般都在生日前就跟家人和亲戚朋友商量好，
3。本人对此事毫不知情。
“本+名” 复指前面的人，机构或者处所。例如：
1。这件事要由他本人决定。
2。北京本地没有这种花。
相当于 “这”， 除了表时间以外， “本+名”表示的事物一般都和说话人有很密切的关系。例如：
1。本词典适合学习汉语的外国人使用。

Hi,
本 usually means one-self, the one who says the words.
For Example: 本人 means myself,
本来，本人，本事，
In your examples, it mean 'this'. Like 本报记者 would mean THIS newspaper reporter; 本市- this city; 本地- this place, 本词典 this dictionary.
*note, 本人 translates better into 'myself'; 他本人 into himself.
