i'm a college student, and recently wanted to transfer to go to school for music...
i auditioned for this school that has an amazing program and did not make it...
i have major issues with confidence when it comes to my singing...
and i have been told i'm good, and won several competitions...and have even talked to a recording label...
the thing i dont understand is...why can't i make it into this school?
are people not being honest with me? any ideas on how i can get an honest opinion about my singing?
Update:the school I applied for was commercial music...
the thing is...you need a really high GPA to get in.... and i have a 3.3... so i'm wondering if i got declined based on grades? the letter never said anything about my audition....do i email the school and ask how my audition went, and what I can improve on?

If you really want to attend this school, don't be discouraged.
If you can, make an appointment to meet with the department chairman in person. Let him or her know that you are very interested in attending their program and would like to know how to make yourself more competitive. Have your application materials, transcripts, demos, etc. with you so that he/she can review them right there and give you specific info on what you can work on. At this point, they are somewhat on the line that if you do these things, the program will have to look at you and our application more seriously. And you've got someone on the inside who may help shepherd your application through.
Be prepared to take any criticism as something you can do to improve your chances of getting in and NOT PERSONALLY. You may need additional training, performance experience, to take additional classes (or take some you scored lower, over) to improve your GPA.
Also, you may be able to take a few classes there as a provisional student, do really well, make some instructor contacts and references and improve your chances for getting admitted to the program.
GOOD LUCK!!!!!
Music schools are usually very strict on admittance and very competitive to be sure they get the very best. If you have major issues with confidence that is likely to be the problem. Don't give up, get out there and work on that confidence then try again
Most colleges and universities vocal music programs are geared more toward opera and classical music. Your voice may be fine, but simply not what they're looking for.
