The answers are all in the book. it's pretty easy to find once you've read it. As far as I can remember, elie looked up to Moshe, i guess there was a quiet reverence to the guy.
People thought Moshe was crazy when he got back and they didn't want to believe that there was any truth to what he said. They thought it impossible that Jews were being treated in the way Moshe described.
The answers i gave are pretty broad, you will still have to read the book (or the first few chapters atleast). as for your other questions, just read it. no critical analysis needed.
Basically they are two people who are suffering. and they get separated. Elie ends up living and her family dies. They die because of the gas chambers. They lose their freedom because a law has been passed say what they can and can not do. The ghettos are apartments but families live with other families. They are pushed and abused when they board the train. They don't believe her because they think she is crazy. The story really is sad
