I'm doing a math project and part of that is choosing a career that uses math and give an example of a formula that they may use in the field. I chose forensic science. I've tried looking but I just can't find anything. Can you help?

Hi - Look up Bloodstain Pattern Analysis. The math uses trigonometry to solve for angle of impact of blood drops. The formula is: Width / Length then take the inverse sine (sin-1). That will give you the angle a blood drop hit a surface. Then if you take the Tangent of that angle, and multiply that by the distance from the drop to the area of convergance (where the drops intersect) you can determine the Area of Origin - that brings it from a 2D to a 3D space. It's actually a great practical example of using Trig in the real world. Good luck
