i live in rochester new york... and i wanna catch and take care of a garter snake... i caught a sallamander but they seem hard to take care of and the worst thing to do is to let a animal die... so... where can i look for the snake shoud i wear gloves to catch it ? wat shud i bring to put it in when i get it... whata i need to put it in .... what type of enviornment and what do i feed it..

Actually it is against the law to keep wild life as a pet. This includes reptiles and birds.
how are you going to take care of one when it is obvious you have no idea? leave them alone. wild animals can take care of themselves better than someone with so many questions. go to the pet store and buy a snake. quit being cheap.
If you can't afford to buy one, you don't need one. And if you don't know about them you REALLY don't need to keep them.
