If your going from black to platinum there are a lot of steps and be prepared to spend a lot of time repairing it afterwards, i myself just went through the process.

First, you need to bleach your hair until it reaches the mostly yellow phase, it took me 4 times bleaching it. i did this over 2 days. extremely damaging, bu i was determined. the idea is to get it to the point of zero orange, and as pale yellow as possible, otherwise you will not achieve "platinum".

once your are done bleaching, put on a deep condition mask, or slather your hair in olive oil, put on a shower cap and leave it overnight.

next use a toner, i used manic panic "virgin snow", it has a slight purple tinge to it, this is what will tone your hair to achieve the platinum look. afterwards, deep condition your haor once a week, and for daily use, i used john friedas sheer blonde toning shampoo and conditioner.

make sure to deep condition and work on repairing your hair. maintaining platinum hair is very damaging. getting it from dark to blonde is a lengthy process whn doing it from home, be patient and dont skip steps. you can also research it on youtube, thats how i learned how to do it.

first off... black to platnium was a horrible idea; I hope your hair can take the damage. i would NOt bleach again... you could severly damage your hair and end up with straw that will break off easily... I would dye it a shade of brown for awhile while it revovers from the bleach. use a perm dye and then do a protein treatment to fill in any cracks and help with brittle-ness. If you bleach again you will most likely have to cut inchess off your hair... =/ even with the dye you'll need at least a trim

I would try bleaching it again. Your hair was black so yes its going to take a couple of times bleaching to get the color out. That's normal. Then after you are done bleaching it go to your local store (I would go to Sally's beauty supplies (so you can get hair dye that wont come out in a week)) then you should be all set. BUT if that does not work then I would look into going to a hair salon, i know you said that you wont go to hair salon but like i said if it didn't work then I would go to a hair salon.
