When you were younger what were your parents definition of "discipline"?
My mom would usually talk to me and my brother, but when it came to my dad, if you did something like spill milk on the floor then your azz was grassed, lol.
My dad was a workaholic.. I don't really remember him being a disciplinarian in my childhood, and even then, it was just threatening me with a coat hanger or a feather duster, but he never actually hit me.
My mom would just yell if I got her to that point.
I was a total cry baby when I was younger, **** I was annoying..
My mom would talk to my brother and I, or give us time-outs and the like.
My dad would yell, scream, and get red in the face. He would also get in your face. I don't even know if he was attempting discipline or not, I remember my whole childhood involved him going through that whenever something happened, then apologizing half an hour later (only to yell and scream again later). Usually what he said was quite hurtful or demeaning.
My Mother would make us have a time out, facing the wall or even facing each other if we had a fight.
My so called father who was never a father to begin with, his way of punishing children is by beating them with a belt, a beat down, or over the top physical punishment.
Mom's way was the common way we used to have our punishment though.
My Dad would beat the living daylights out of me, My Mum has hit me a couple of times but she usually sat me down and talked to me. My bro and me weren't really troublesome kids.
Since it was usually my mouth that got me in trouble, lol, I either got "popped" in the mouth or had to have soap in my mouth.
I would also have to stand in the corner while holding a stack of books for an hour, and If i just turned around real quick they would add another book.
If you did anything bad, you would have to fetch the firewood and water by yourself for a week. And if you did something really bad, you would have to sleep outside and you were not allowed to eat until mother and father were no longer mad at you in my home back in Africa.

My parents would just leave the room if I said something that offended them.
I was NEVER 'physically-disciplined' though I have been cussed out a few times by them.

mom would yell, do time out, ground us and if it was serious then a spanking and if it was really bad then a smack or slap.
when my dad was living with us he would just beat us with a belt or anything he could get his hands on for really simple things.
that's why if i was to get into trouble i'd much rather it be with my mom than dad
First, a warning. Then he made us wait for 30 mins in our room before he called us up for a spanking on the butt. The waiting was emotional terrorism.
My mom whipped me with switches, belt, and extension cords. My dad mostly yelled, but will whip me with his hands.
