A customer should tip a minimum of a dollar every drink, and if you run a tab you should tip the usual 20% or so. Now of course if the place is not very busy and the service is really crappy and takes a while to get your drink, you should change the tipping scale accordingly because the idea is to promote good service, and on the other side if you have great service its is never a bad thing to throw a big tip to a bartender or your wait staff they will remember you then and chances are you will get the same or better service then next time you are there. Since you brought up tipping in general don't forget to tip your Delivery divers, Hair stylists, Wait staff, Valet parking attendants, Hotel housekeepers, Caddies, and generally anyone in the service industry that goes above and beyond there job description to make you happy.

A dollar per drink, although I will always tip more on the first round at a busy place to insure prompt service the following trips.

Per meal 15%, Per drink 20% or a 1$.
But these answers obviously depend on the purchased food or drink.
Look me up on youtube.

it also depends on the type of bar
a casual corner bar I tip a bit less than a pricier place
for beers or very simple mixed drinks a dollar or a bit less per drink
fancier drinks & bigger orders should get a bit more per drink
I like to tip a bit heavy up front then a bit less after third round.
.50-1.00/drink. Depends on the price of the drink. If you drink 3 beers only then tip 2.50.
I think, best would be to follow a rule....10% of the price you pay for the drink.
