I really want another dog. I have a yard for the dog to run in and I have a small house. I have a basement (which is very messy but we are cleaning it up), a first floor (Medium Living room, Dining Room, Computer Room, Kitchen, Laundry Room, Parent's Bedroom, and One Small Bathroom), and a second floor (Bathroom, 2 bedrooms). Will this be enough space? My parents would never take back the dog without me and my sister knowing. I have big woods for the dog to run around in and my neighbors' field that my other dog, Kodi runs around in. Would my other dog get jealous? How do you teach them to get along? Should I think else whys? I would study about what ever dog you suggest and I will talk to my parents about it. They do not want a huge dog. They don't want a tiny dog either because they will step on it. I also have 2 rats that are kept in my room but I could put boxes around the cage is Border Collies do not like rats.

Living conditions: The Border Collie is not recommended for apartment life. They are very active indoors and do best with acreage. This breed will do fine in a kennel provided it has daily activity and sees plenty of its handler. This breed is not suited to life chained up in the backyard all day.
Exercise: Physical exercise alone is not sufficient for this very intelligent and highly energetic dog. They want to work and must do so with body and mind as one, carrying out different tasks. Fast and agile, these lively little dogs have boundless energy and thrive on hard work and play. They should also be taken on a long, brisk daily walk. They are a delight to see streaking after a ball or bringing straying sheep back to the fold.
If you're willing to walk this dog at least 2 hours a day and play fetch, etc. in the backyard, go for it. This dog is very hyper and playful. If you don't meet its needs, it will tear the house apart.
