the Bible has many different translations and versions because it was written over 2000 years ago so sometimes people interpret the words differently or people are trying to make it easier for people today to understand
Jesus IS God... He is not better or above God, they are equal
There are people in a field called Text Criticism who believe that the Old Testament came in four different versions (A, B, C, D) and was blended together. Beyond that, there are many different translations of the Bible that was put together as the Canon by "church fathers".
I think Christians say Jesus is Lord because they anticipate the time when He really will be Lord of the earth. I prefer to say Jesus is my Teacher and Guide. I really don't relate to the word "lord" at all.
1. the Bible has not changed its meaning, its just been translated from hebrew to english, spanish, king james version, new international version, etc...
2. Christians say Jesus is Lord because Lord means God and since we believe in the Trinity, we believe Jesus, God, and the Holy Spirit are all the same person in 3 different forms. so when we say Jesus is Lord, its the same thing as saying Jesus is God. hope that helped :)
Jesus is God manifested in the flesh, Creator and Owner over everything!
Bible versions differ from language, and languages change, such as what has happened over the years, much like the English language has changed; however, they all portray the same message, with the exception of a few translations of occultist groups, which add, and take away. I especially like the KJV, but if you have a hard time reading this, use the American King James Version or the NASB.
We say "Jesus is Lord" in the ancient sense of the term "lord". Jesus is our king and master. When George Washington wrote letters to British officers during the revolutionary war he addressed them as "my lord". It's a term of respect.
But going further, the Word of God, meaning His creative Wisdom, also known as the Memra, became flesh in the form of the man, Jesus Christ. God's creative Wisdom is God, but is not God. It was not God the Father who came down from heaven and wriggled into a human body and walked the earth, but rather was the Wisdom, or Word, of God Who did.
Acts 5:31
Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.
God the Father has exalted Jesus above him because he completed the work that needed to be done to save man and his creation.
sayinng Jesus is Lord isn't putting him above God, it's meant quite literally, Jesus and the Lord are the same person. Like the holy trinity, Jesus is God in the form of a man.
"And the word became flesh."
We say Jesus is Lord, because Jesus said he is Lord. He also claimed divinity, saying he is the Beginning and the End, the only way to the Father.
The language used to describe Jesus in the New Testament is the same language used to describe God in the Old Testament.
He's not above, nor better than, God -- he IS God.
Jesus is God in human flesh, we communicate with God the father trough Jesus Christ the son.. Jesus is the way to the father
because Jesus IS Lord..God is our Father
