Also i wanted to let you know that i am ready for a hamster, trust me. i have the perfect place for them in my hallway upstairs because they might stink up my room, do they stink by the way? anyways and the christmas money i get which will be at least 200 dollars will go into it. but also i have cheerleading and school too, so that takes away the MAJORITY of my time, i usually get homw arounds 8 or so. but yeah(:
But mostly is looking for a hamster with these sort of characteristics:
-male or female? which ever is better.
-doesnt stink that bad.
-is a solitary type
-can be alone for awhile a day.
-very sweet
-falls in love with its owner
-and.... loves to get spoiled lol(:

All hamsters fit your description. Hamsters can stay home alone for long times because they sleep during the day. male or female doesn't matter. It's a personal choice. All hamsters stink if you don't clean the at least once a week. All hamsters can live in groups or alone. The hamster's personality explains his/her sweetness, but all hamsters love their owner and love to be spoiled. Good luck with your new hamster!
Hamster Basic Care:
- Clean it's cage every week.
- Refill its water bottle every day.
- Refill food bowl when needed.
- Spend time with it, about 30 minutes to any time you want.
- Make sure it gets exercise (A wheel is a very good option).
- Make sure they're aren't any TV, Radio, or rattling dish sounds near your hamster.
- Hamsters are nocturnal, so don't wake them up too much during the day.
That's it for basic hamster care.
Hamster Characteristic Answers:
- Males and Females are the same, however I think females smell less because they don't "mark" territory as much.
- They don't stink if you clean their cage every week.
- Hamsters are solitary creatures.
- Yes they can be alone for the day because they sleep during the day.
- Hamsters are very sweet when tamed.
- Hamsters do fall in love with their owner because they get used to you and like your attention/company.
- If by spoiled you mean by fruits, vegetables, toys, and etc. then yes they love to get spoiled.
This might not be a good answer for you if you have your heart set on hamsters only, but Ive had 2 gerbils now and they have been great. Gerbils are less temperamental than hamsters, and just as cute. they are super friendly and will be happy as long as they have something to chew on or play with. The only differences really are they have longer tails and can be a little thinner than hamsters. If you do consider one, dont get a grey one or a black, just because they arent as cute :). Get tan or light brown. The same care instructions that apply to hamsters applies to gerbils too by the way.
male are nicer because they are less territorial
they wont stink if you clean the cage with soap and water once a week
all hamsters are solitary
they are sleeping during the day usually and awake at night
teddy bear hamsters are the best kind of hamsters because they describe everything you want . ive had 3 of them and they were all wonderful =]
Well, the best type of hamster for this problem is a male Syrian. They can be quite hyper at night but if you want a less hyper hamster get a female, but they can stink if they get scared. My female, Latte LOVES to sleep and cuddle with me while I watch TV! It's the cutest thing!!! Oh, and she loves to eat!!! Syrians bite less and live longer than dwarves do. Good luck with ur hammy!! =)
personally, I would stick with having rats. Hamsters are not very friendly most of the time and are more prone to biting, no matter how tame you get them to be. But if you are insistant on getting a hamster I would recommend getting a bigger type of one, like a teddy bear hamster, not any dwarf ones
i like teddy bear hamsters females are nicer they are noctornal
