Yes. We are to avoid committing the seven deadly sins, to confess any mortal sins committed with a firm purpose of amendment, and to pray for the living and the dead, among other things.
Catholicism has works for salvation which leads to hell. Stay away from it.
The Bible teaches that we are all sinners who deserve eternal separation from God in hell. But the good news is that the Lord Jesus Christ died on the cross to pay for all our sins and rose again (1 Cor. 15:3-4). Because of the shed blood of Christ, no one has to go to hell. All one must do to receive eternal life is to believe in Jesus Christ for that free gift! The moment you believe in Christ alone to save you (apart from works), you are kept eternally secure and will go to heaven when you die no matter what.
"Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life" (John 5:24).
Catholic is not Christian, and it never was. Catholic didn't exist for hundreds of years after the Bible was complete and compiled in the 90s AD. Catholic leads to torments in hell because it adds works to salvation (and "purgatory" doesn't exist). The first Christians are those in Acts, and anyone can read and see that they weren't catholic. Get away from catholic. Here is what you need to believe: The Lord Jesus Christ is God, and He loves you. Believing in the Lord Jesus Christ means being forgiven all sins past and future, and means going to heaven and not hell. Death leads to immediate heaven or hell, and it is too late to be saved, after death. All believers still sin. See 1 John 1:8. To be in heaven and not hell, believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, who is God and who died on the cross and shed His blood to pay for all of our sins in full, and who was buried, and who resurrected from the dead. The only way to avoid hell is by believing in the Lord Jesus Christ, without adding any of your own works. See Romans 4:5, 1 Corinthians 15:3-4, and John 3:16.
No actually. I grew up catholic, but know some protestants and while my faith was more organized, it tended to be relatively non-radicalized. Theirs made greater demands of them.

Not when you finally become smart enough to leave it in your dust.
