i don't personally believe in sins because what is classed as a sin is open to interpretation. however i believe that as long as you are not having a negative effect on anyone else, then there is nothing wrong with self interest.
first, lets use the actual term as Jesus meant it, to sin is to make 'a mistake', and all mistakes can be corrected
the mistake of selfishness is the idea that there is a scarcity of 'goods' (either material, like wealth, or abstract, like love) in the world, and what 'goods' we can grab must be hoarded
to hoard our goods, we have to build walls and doors with locks, and live inside, filled with fear that someone will steal our goods

Second of all, no. We are hard wired to be selfish (all creatures are) in order to survive. It's a natural state of human nature.
Being selfish is not a sin but a self-punishment. Do selfish people generally seem happy?
Sin is the act of breaking a law. Therefore, being selfish is a sin to whatever godlike figure passed a law saying so.
