And in doing so, is there a way where I can cheat and get a dual citizenship with the U.S as well?
If caught, what are the consequences?
Update:I'm chinese/japanese from the U.S
Does that make it easier?

I explained some ways to move to Japan and get citizenship in the below question.

Sorry, pal, not gonna happen....You have to live in Japan for years before you can even attempt getting citizenship...Chinese born in Japan aren't even given citizenship !
You need a BA degree to work in Japan. And a solid job offer to qualify
for a work visa.
Being Chinese/ Japanese will be of zero help.
And you can't "cheat". If you became a Japanese citizen, you would have to renounce your American citizenship.
If you play silly games with the Japanese government, they deport you and won't allow you back.
Not possible. You must have lived in Japan, and worked in gainfull employment for a minimum of seven years before you can apply for citizenship in Japan.
If you get caught doing anything illegal, you will be deported back to China, where you are from, and never be able to come back to the US or Japan.
