I was at school when my mom called and the power went out. It was around 2:45 and I have a leopard gecko, his tank temperature is around 70-60 and dropping and I'm worried he will freeze or go into hybernation
What can I do to help him? They say the power won't be on again until it's 8:40! I'm really worried

except it particularly is totally chilly i do no longer see any problems beings Florida has had particularly some non community species / reptiles which includes Gecko's get away, thrive & proceed to exist with none problems interior the previous !! If capability is out for say days, a week you are able to shop a returned up cage of kinds that the gecko won't be able to get away from to take the gecko out for some sunshine, heat - up & UV rays ! Take Care & stable success
Get a water bottle and fill it up with hot water and put that in his tank. You can gently wrap a tea towel around it if it is too hot.
If you have a "hot water bottle", then fill that up and put it in the tank.
If you have any boot or mitten warmers, you can also activate those and put them in his tank.
*these are really good to have on hand for emergency purposes. My local dollar store sells them, but you can find them lots of places.
If you use a water bottle or a hot water bottle, you will probably need to wake up during the middle of the night to refill it with hot water again.
You can also get a quilt and wrap his tank with it to help keep the heat in
You can also share body heat with him. Pick him up and put him on your chest inside your shirt/sweater. Be sure to hold him so he doesn't fall out!
There are a couple of solutions. Buy those heat packs and put that in the cage with a towel over it. The kind that people put in their boots, gloves. Also buy a hot water bottle and fill it with warm water. Good luck :)
