The mail box at the post office says packages over 13 ounces that have stamps on them have to be checked into the service people due to heightened security. And my package weighed more than that, and I used stamps, I accidentally dropped it in the box before reading the warning. Does anyone know what will happen? Will they just ship the package back to the return address? Or just throw it away? Should I call them and tell them I messed up? I never knew there was any other way to ship besides with stamps, so what are the other ways? Do I buy a sticker or something? How do I get it? I dont have a credit card either if they are needed.
thanks

If you put your return address on the package, it should be returned to you. You will then have to take it to the PO to give to the clerk at the window. If you lease a postage meter, you can place a meter strip with the correct postage on the package and it will be sent out. Or you can use Click and Ship from the USPS website. You purchase your postage online and print out a shipping label with postage. A package with that on it can be shipped from anywhere.
It will probably be returned to you.
You can use stamps or buy the postage and the USPS will put a sticker on it, but it still needs to be processed by the USPS.
You have to go to the post office. They accept cash, debit cards, and credit cards.
Good question - contact your local branch and ask what the policy is, or the info may be on their website @ www.usps.com
