hi Lily, my first day wasn't too bad only that a teacher took a swipe at me because of. my school bag ; it wasn't funny then but when I look back now, she wasn't far away. my take? be yourself - as difficult or boring or childish you think that may be. let your favorite things remain your favorite things, be smart but don't pass yourself off as knowing it all, in fact let your prowess be known mostly in tests and in the results, and try not to run after people to befriend them unless you absolutely need him/her, just be friendly and keep an open mind and you will make good friends who like you and enjoy you because they actually like you and not just because you're pretty and intelligent. there will as usual be those who simply won't like you and those who'll take you as rival in everything from subjects to friends to boys, just hold your head high and strut your stuff, that'll gain you a lot of respect. I just graduated from middle school. There probably will be the "popular people" but usually they're still nice. Just act nice and try not to act too shy. Do your hair nice so its not frizzy and pick out a cute outfit that you like:) i made a group of friends and stuck with them throughout all of middle school:)
