I wanna play Galacticraft on my server with my friends, but I can't get Forge to work. Also, do my friends need Galacticraft as well, or just me?

There's specifics below, but I figured I'd put the tl;dr at the top this time.

I just DLed the 1.7.2 updates for SP and the server.

Been looking at some mods that I wanna try as well, but they require Forge. I was wondering if there is a 1.7.2 release for Forge and if so, where can I find it.

All the ones I've DLed so far that claim to be 1.7.2 are all 1.6.4.

More so, I've never done anything like this before and have no clue how to install Forge or get it to work. I've been at this for about 4 hours now, looked up countless videos and step by step instructions on how to install Forge and none of them work. Minecraft boots up normally, no problems or anything, but Forge clearly hasn't been installed because there's no Forge version in the lower left corner of the Minecraft main menu like there should be. Also, no option for a "mods" button on the main menu either.
