Can anyone help me do a SOAPSTone (Speaker, Occasion, Audience, Purpose, Subject, Tone) on Nickel and Dimed? It just needs to be 6 sentences, one for each letter (ex. one sentence for 'S' or speaker). I am stuck on her subject and tone, so help with those two sentences would be amazing. You can figure out how to put these into sentences.
Speaker: Ehrenreich, the author. (It's her account of going undercover and working a series of different low-paid jobs, so it's her talking about her experiences, observations and feelings.)
Occasion: Her time working (undercover) at very low-paid, no-prestige jobs in America.
Audience: Educated, intelligent, thinking American adults.
Purpose: To show what it's like for people who have to take low-end jobs and survive on that kind of pay, and also to contrast it with living as a normal middle-class person or as (in her case) an affluent person.
Subject: Working at very low-paid, no-prestige jobs in America.
Tone: Generally expository, but also reflective and sometimes saddened or angry.
