Problem with our video cassette recorder...?
it begins to play for a second but then goes to a blank screen...I can hear it rolling still..I wonder if the head needs a clean...before when there was a picture,the top inch of the screen was distorted..if that helps..any help please...

The playback head has most likely gone bad. Magnetic tape is slightly abrasive, and contacts the head during use. Eventually the head just wears out.
It can just be oxide on the heads so try cleaning it with a cleaning tape.
