I have an HP Pavilion dv6000 entertainment notebook system with Windows Vista. My Recovery Partition is full and yesterday a couple of viruses almost destroyed my laptop. I used the system recovery from the partition before and now it won't let me recover at all. Is the recovery a one time deal?
I don't have any recovery disks at all because I thought the partition would be reliable but I guess not now. The viruses are gone (says the Norton Scan) but it seems like everything has gone haywire.
Update:Each time I pull up the system restore section, it says that it doesn't have a restore point and that it's turned off even though I made a restore session months ago.

You can use the recovery partition multiple times. It is usually full; why would there be extra space? It would have been good if you'd posted the exact errors you see. Can't debug without them.
And btw, the reason you make discs is that if the hard drive fails, your recovery partition is gone.
All is not lost however. HP will send you the recovery set (for a price, but it's reasonable.) In the US, it comes in a day or two. Call customer support and have your model and serial number handy.
windows and linux use different partition table (file system) Steps to install 2 OS - WIn and Ubuntu 1) At least you need to have 2 partitions 2) Install XP/Vista on C drive 3) Put the linux CD to CD drive ans start installing 4) Until stage to modify partitions, delete the D drive and create the linux based partitions 5) continue installing linux on the partition created
You needed to make recovery cds. Tools like Norton Ghost are good for that. Right now if you need to reinstall, you'll have to buy some - speak to HP.
