What are the similarities between the 2 of them. Is French more related to Spanish or English?
Update:Sarah actually, there are more than three Romance languages. Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, Catalan ect. English is Germanic. (^_^ )

French is more related to Spanish of course as they are both in the same language family. A lot of the words have the same roots but are spelled differently and are pronounced differently. I know Spanish but not French. However, when I was in France, I had no trouble at all reading the menus and street signs for example because of my Spanish background. I didn't know how to pronounce them, but I could understand them! So that gives you an idea of how similar they are.
Similarities Between French And Spanish
LOGICALLY, English is a Germanic Language... and French is a Romantic Language (based off Latin).Spanish is also a Romantic Language, so obviously French is more like Spanish. They even sound very similar. Italian, Romanian and Portuguese are other Romantic languages... there are many of them. No, there are not only three Romantic Languages.
Both are of the three Romance languages, the other being Italian. I would say French is closer to Spanish, because it has similar spellings and grammar usage.
I had a french teacher who told me, all the nouns in French and Spanish masculine and feminine were the same in both languages.
French and Spanish are quite similar in structures and vocabulary. English is quite different .
