I was attempting to go "no poo" which is transitioning into not using shampoo anymore and just using baking soda and a vinegar rinse....the girl from a blog that does this says that you need to clarify your hair before going no poo. One of her clarifying washes is using a ration of 1:4 of soap:water. The soap must be a Castile soap, which she suggests using Dr Bronners brand. It's organic and natural so I used that one at that ratio. She said if you have hard water it will leave a soapy scum feeling on your hair. Well I didn't know I have hard water! And now my hair is sooo sticky so I got back in the shower and followed this recommendation: rinse twice with apple cider vinegar and distilled water. I did this and nothing changed! Please does anyone know how to get soap scum out of your hair?? If I shampoo with regular shampoo in the morning will it strip it out? What else can I do please help :(

Don't use vinegar with castile soap. It creates an unfavorable chemical reaction.
Did you dilute the castile soap first? I use it with no problem.
What I do is I mix 1oz castile, two tablespoons of honey and two ounces of green tea, and a tablespoon of castor oil together, and that is my shampoo version.
Maybe its not soap scum, if its not coming off easily, maybe you're not used to your hair not feeling "stripped" to squeaky clean...?
