Absolutely not. There are seats in the back where you don't have to crane and look over someone just to see the concert. The sides where you come in are also great places to see the concert as well. I would rather see a concert from these two places since the front always is so cramped together because everyone will be trying to get as close to the front as possible. To answer you'll question, NO it's not wierd to go by yourself. The place is soo crowded with people and you'll have a great time. I'm sure you'll have fun at the show.
I would recommend to stray from the "scream/emo" scene, they like to do something called "hardcore dancing" which is basically where a medly of skimmy emo kids on pcp and meatheads on roids start kicking each other like babies and doing roundhouse kicks while moving there arms about like a windmill. I've seen people leaving with kicked out teeth, and bloody/black and blue eyes that didn't even plan on moshing. Don't get me wrong, moshing is a great thing, but if you're going to mosh you should do it at a thrash show, 98% of the people there are there to have a good time, though at the last municipal waste show I got kicked in the teeth by the one emo kid there that was "hardcore dancing". As far as going alone, what do you mean by weird? There are many people that go to shows alone, it's a good way to meet people with a similar taste in music maybe share a brew or bum a smoke off someone and start chatting a bit.
watch out if you're in the front, people tend to run up the stage and jump into the crowd (crowd-surfing). A lot of people did this when I went, and it was a /indie/ show LOL. anyway, if they land on you, it hurts.
usually the pit is in the middle-ish to the front, so if you're a bit off to the side you most likely won't get caught in the fray. The front is pretty hectic too, unless you're in the very front row against the barrier, but even then, you'll get squashed a bit but at least you'll have something to hang onto.
going alone isn't lame, but make sure someone knows where you are, for safety issues and stuff. :)
