I realize that a spark gap generator could be utilized to effectively jam Radio signals or just make a radio unbearable to listen to but would it do the same for for normal stereo? If I'm playing music on my computer or Ipod through my speakers, could a spark gap generator interfere enough with the speakers to make listening to it unbearable? I have a neighbors on both sides being extremely inconsiderate so I'm thinking of methods to be just as inconsiderate without involving the police...
Update:Spark gap generators interfere with almost any electrical devices, but will it work over a distance of 2 - 3 meters and how effectively?

the circuitry in most radio stereo systems leave a lot to be desired, and will pick up any interference going, especially when the two speaker cables are stretched out one each side of the unit, as they make a dipole ariel, which picks up any transmitted radio waves, around the frequency they represent, it can even be direct multiples of a fundamental frequency, that they receive,
when, by a method of trial and error you find the right frequency, you will hear a massive feedback humming noise from their loud speakers, along with a horrible wailing noise, (sounds like a cat with a hernia) this is the same as the feedback noise you get by placing a mic to close to an amp unit or its speakers.
this normally instills fear of the unit self destructing, and is immediately switched off, the owner will be puzzled for weeks, as to where the fault lies, and spend a fortune trying to solve this intermittent problem.
dual band amateur radios have a multitude of channels they can transmit on, at various power levels.
NO, sparking generates a wide band radio frequencies but stereo amplifier is not a radio which has no affect from these RF signal. Call the police or city hall to make a complain for Noise.
A much better idea, as you are in the UK is to invoke the rules of performing rights, you know, the small print around the centre of the CD. It works like this. If you can recognise the track in the street or public place, make a note of time and place and where it comes from, do it on a number of occasions, Report it to the Performing Rights Society as a public performance without a licence, they will take it from there.
I won't work. Radios are very sensitive and they are designed to detect RF signal that are in space. Stereos do not do the same think.
