my son was born sept 06 and he starts 2011 and my daughter who was born nov 07 starts 2012!
so yes your daughter will also start 2012!
ive already put all 3 of my kids names down at the school i want them to go even my youngest who doesnt go until 2015 lol the school they are going to is 5-11yrs. they can go playschool before this time though!
My daughter was born May 2006 and starts this september, although doesn't start full time till after November half term. Your daughter will start September 2011- although it won't be compulsory till sept 2012.
Your local school may do a January 2012 intake for late summer babies. 1 week after her 4th birthday seems very young to start school.
--edit--
Damien, Poppie and Alexis mum- your child was born in Nov 2007, meaning that, yes, she'll be in the 2012 intake, and one of the oldest- remember though that the school intakes go from birthdays 1st Sep-31 Aug rather than all those born in a certain year. So all those born 1st Sep 2006-31 Aug 2007 are in the 2011 intake, and all those from 1 Sep 2007- 31 Aug 2008 are in the 2012 one. Your child and the OP's daughter start in different academic yeard, despite being both being born in 2007.
Some peoples answers on here are completely wrong but Mo is correct!!!
Your daughter will start school in September 2011. The cut off date is the 31st August so every child who is 4 before 31st August 2011 will start school that September. However as has already been said if your school has a January intake she will start then but not many schools can afford to have more than one intake so you'll need to check with your school allocations department at your local county council. But she will definitely start school next year in the 2011/2012 school year (be it September 2011 or January 2012) so you'll need to get her name down for your chosen school by the middle of February which is the cut off date for admissions.
I live in Glasgow so the intake is slightly different - children who will be 4 years old by the end of Feb 2011 will start school next August 2011 - my granddaughter was born October 2006 and starts school next August 2011.
Mummy of 4 is correct. My son has a friend who is an August baby and he started school just after his 4th birthday. Any child who is 4 between 1st Sept 06 and 31 August 07 will start school in 2011.
So some children you son will be going to school with will be almost a year older than him so you may want to check out the January intake, only thing with doing this, is that friendships will be formed by the time your son starts and he may find it difficult to make his own friends, however saying this children are very adatable and he will settle.
it's most likely that she will start reception in september 2011, and be one of the youngest in the year. however, some school have a january intake aswell, so she may join her classmates 5 months after they started. check with your local school to be sure.
your child will be entitled to a free nursery place in october, they are entitled to this the term after they turn 3 years. also my niece was born on 20th sept but she missed the cut off point for starting school so had to wait until just before her 5th birthday. this means that you will have to keep her home a year longer that somebody who was born on say 3rd sept, its weird how it works
the cut off date is usually the last day of Feburary so if your child is 4 before the last day of February then they can go to school that August/September, however it is not compulsary, you can wait until they are 5 if you wish, or you can make a special request for your child to go to school early ie if their birthday is in March and they just miss the cut off, in which case your child will be assessed (this happened to my sister, her birthday is 15th March and she started school in August when she was 4)
ETA: Id like to add that every area has different rules so look up your local council's website for more information - so mummy of 4 lots of people are not wrong it is probably just different where they live from where you live!
