I'm sending a package to my lady in Canada and I've been checking the USPS Tracking but it's been on custom clearance for the last two days. What do they mean when it say Your item is being processed by customs in Canada ?
When parcels cross international borders, each country has a Customs Inspection who decides if the item complies with local law, is permitted to enter and if there are any duties or taxes due. When they are happy that no action is needed, they will deliver the parcel to Canada Post for delivery. If taxes are due, the delivery person will collect them at delivery. If the item is prohibited it will either be returned to you or destroyed.
It means that the parcel is in the hands of the Canada Customs people. All parcels coming into Canada are assessed for a number of things, such as whether the contents may be admitted to Canada or not, and if they are then Customs looks at whether or not any duty must be paid. Sometimes parcels clear customs very quickly; other times they do not, and all you can do is wait.
Customs Clearance is a standard process for all items arriving from another country of origin, where they are checked, scanned and assessed for any illegal materials. Only if through scanning with you package be subjected to further tests if a suspicious substance is evident. Otherwise it will be processed and delivered in 15-21 days.
Did you attach a properly filled out customs declaration form that didn't look too obviously like it was lying about the value or contents ? Sometimes there's duty payable in which case the recipient may get a note to pick it up at the carrier's warehouse.
Extortion has become accepted in our mainstream capitalistic society. Profiteering has been programmed into us all as a necessary evil to deter spooks and goblins (i.e. terrorists and the other stuff that only those in power seem to indulge in, such as anthrax and bombs). Manipulation is how the few control the flow of money into their pockets from our labor. We could go on....the best advice I can avail is to not live for this world, it s just a test (if there s a god) and for those that have made our lives so constricted as to detract our otherwise potential greatness, weeping and gnashing of teeth is their lot in the afterlife (so for their sake, let s pray that there is no god).
