From the moment any child is old enough to begin thinking about such things, we all know God exists. We have to be taught the idea that there is no God as we grow up.
Usually people come to a point where they ask God for something that doesn't happen, so they conclude there is no God. We would never do that with a scientific experiment. For example, Edison failed about 1,000 times before he succeeded in creating the first working light bulb. He could have tried once and concluded there would never be any such thing as a light bulb.
About nine or ten when thanks to education and growing intellect I discovered the truth and escaped into reality!

They are christian, Muslim or the other religions depending where they were born simply because they were indoctrinated by their parents as very young children. They will go on to indoctrinate their own children and those will go on to indoctrinate their grandchildren!

I always believed as a child because it was told to me that not to believe would be the worst thing and he would judge me later for my disbelief. I had been brought up on a variety of religions and grew to understand God as the same deity throughout all the different religions just given different names. They all believe in loving their fellow man and caring for one another. I am saddened by the atheist that feels compelled to make rude remarks and hurtful comments to get their point across. I guess their belief is to hurt mankind and everyone for themselves. I know that is not true of all atheists but I find it is often the case with people that respond on answer.
Several seconds after my folks told me about the Tooth Fairy, and at exactly the same time that I correctly deduced that Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny didn't exist either.
Then again at about 18 after having been involved in something vaguely resembling the ancient Egyptian religion during my teens.
I never really 'realized' it. As a kid I was shoved into religion before I could have time to grow and choose. Naturally I left this binding and did my own thing...God pulled me back to him in a LOUD way, and I have stayed Christian since then. So I guess I started my relationship with him around September.
i realized he doesnt exist 2 years ago shortly after being slapped by some idiotic narrow minded people at my parent's church. for having a gay friend.
