When there's a large difference in age between two people that are dating, the older person will take more of a parenting role and dangerous especially when they are dating someone very young without a lot of life experience, they themselves have so much life experience and have 'ulterior motives'. A lot of times, such a difference in age can lead to lack of common interests.
If those things don't matter to either of the two people, would age still matter?
It depends on what the situation is:
18 year old dating 50 year old - Yes, this age difference is wrong.
27 year old dating 50 year old - a little weird, but it's more acceptable.
35 year old dating 50 year old - sure, that's more acceptable.
47 year old dating 50 year old - sure - why not?
Also, There's an interesting equation that tells you the [appropriate] minimum age that a guy can date a girl.
(Age of the guy / 2) + 7 = Age of the girl.
This equation works mostly for the guy older than 15 and younger than a *certain age*. (i.e. it wouldn't make sense for at 57 year old woman to date a 100 year old man - would it??).
it matters a bit ... but having said that i have read stuff on here that is obviously from someone young and they make good points ... and i would listen to them ... the other side is the younger kids (11 to 20 somethings) who have very black and white thinking and that is the mentality of a child, not an adult, so i just smile and skim over their answers ... like the ones that rant about what they feel is RIGHT and never really answer the question, they are more interested in people knowing they have politically correct popular viewpoints, to fit in i guess ... i remember being 20 something and thinking there was only one right way for things to be in my mind at that age ... the older you get, with more life experience and the less politically correct becomes a focus and reality is more of a focus ... but there are people born with good animal karma and that can be evident from little kids to senior citizens ... i don't think i can say how knowledgeable a person should be to own a dog because some people without a clue, get a dog and get it right away ... others take some time to learn ... and others are idiots who will have dogs despite their IQ ... there is no control over that and there never will be ... anyone can own a dog, knowledge has nothing to do with it ...
If you're not sure, use the formula; half your age plus seven.
Alternatively, Love knows no boundaries and dating, and sex are two very different things. With dating, it really doesn't matter as long as it feels right for both parties and any under-agers have their guardian's or parent's consent.
A good general rule for 14-18 is being within a couple years of each other.
Keep aware of local laws, as it doesn't take very much to be placed on a sex offenders list which could haunt you for the rest of your life. That goes for you drunkards who end up peeing in alleyways too! ;)
i think there are some restrictions. when you are in your teens i think a healthy and reasonable age gap is 0-3 years apart in age. since these are the developmental years-anything more than that isnt right. once they become a legal adult around 18 or so...i think it can range from 0-5 years in age difference. once you become a real adult with a higher maturity and wisdom level which is around 22-23 i think 0-10 years is reasonable. i tend to think older women with younger men shows that a woman is trying to remain young...and quite honestly it is very disturbing. call it hypocritical but i dont think that older men dating younger women is quite the same. i do not think anyone in their 20s should be dating anyone in their 40s+ tho...thats just not right and there is no possible way they are on the same mental page...none whatsoever.
well, it kinda depends on the age, like if it is 16 to 20 then it should be okay. but if it is like 16 to like 80, then it kinda matters, or you can go with the saying,"there is no age limit when it comes to love"
When you don't know the consquences of the age gap between you and you're partner. Like say your a girl and the boy is five years older he might have more life experience and then he could take advantage.
YES! after youre both over 25, then it doesnt, but any time either of the poeple are under 25 and the other is under, it matters. emotional maturation happens around that time.
i mean its illegal if one person is over 18 and one is under but i mean no one really follows those rules lol but i mean im kind of seeing a 21 year old and im 16 i dont think thats too bad but like say a 14 year old and 18 year old thats kinda weird but once you hit like 18 i dont really think its weird if you date someone older then you its just when your young and not an adult yet

Age should matter if who you date is a minor, however if both of you are adults, then age shouldn't matter!

Nothing matters when it comes to love, except for the feeling.
