Which Molosser breed would you
recommend for me?
I have a 4 bed-room - 3 1/2 bath home with
a 2 1/2 acre yard with a pool, lake, lush yard
and a small forrest. I understand all dogs need to
be walked but I can only walk my dog maybe twice
a day for no more than 15 minutes each. This is not
my first dog - I have experience with Border Collies,
Boxers, American Bulldogs, Bull Terriers, English Mastiffs,
Australian Kelpies etc, etc.
I would like a dog that would just chill with me - be glued
to my side and always wanting to just chill watching T.V etc.
I want a somewhat lazy dog, not one too active. I would prefer
a large to giant sized breed. I have a lot of friends and family over
a lot.
I want a dog that would be a good "Wrestle-Mate" too. A sturdy dog
as most Molossers are. I understand all of the precautions I will
need to be sure of taking care of while owning a Molosser breed - especially a large or giant breed Molosser. ( I know not to spay/neuter too young or it could cause several health problems. I know not to exercise it too much or it could cause joint problems etc, etc. )
Describe the reason you recommend the breed you recommend for
me and please be educated on the breed. Which do you recommend?
( If you would like me to describe something more please say so and I will, gladly. Thanks! )

Regardless of the size of your yard, you will need to get your dog to an area away from your property to socialise it. You must walk it amongst other dogs and people. You will also need to get it used to walking on a leash near traffic and get him used to other noises.
In theory he has a lot of space, however you cannot leave him outside on his own because he will roam and get lost. He could also be stolen, abused or attacked by other animals. Plus when he grows up, it will frightened the hell out of anyone who sees such a massive dog roaming around.
I appreciate that large and giant breeds cannot go for long walks when they are puppies, however you must be prepared to take a puppy out for at least three twenty minute walks a day. You must also have a safe fenced area where he can have his pees and poos. Again I will stress that he must be socialised with other dogs and children from the outset. You must also appreciate that if your time is limited that puppies and dogs will take up a large amount of your time.
i absolutely recommend a St. Bernard. I own a Rough Coated, 9 month old St. Bernard and he is HUGE! He is so sweet and gentle and kind, he LOVES to play, but is just as happy lying on the couch next to me and sleeping. His drooling can become a bit obnoxious, but is only really a problem after he eats or drinks. He is really just the sweetest thing, and i have heard nothing bad about the breed (he is my first one). Good Luck!!!
