Out of the two it all depends on the spec and age of the second hand machine.
It would be hard to say without a full run down of the spec but I'd be more inclined by the brand new Sony over the second hand HP.
If they were both second hand and both had the similar spec it would be the HP hands down, but with the Sony being new and not much more expensive you're getting a brand new machine that's never been used. Everything is in good working order, and is fully guaranteed (normally for at least 12 months, and under UK trading standards laws that can even be extended to about 3 years - without even being caught up in the "extended warranty" scam - uk trading standards state that everything has a "reasonable life" regardless of whether or not the warranty is invalid, and most electronics actually have a "reasonable life" of about 3 years, but they don't tell you that, they'd prefer you to buy the extended warranty), where as the second hand one will have been used, you might need to re-install Windows to wipe all the old rubbish the persons left on there, and if it's from a second hand dealer you might be lucky if they offer you a 3 month warranty on it so after 3 months anything goes wrong your then out of pocket.
One other thing is have you looked at the Compaq's, they are made by HP and brand new they can be less than what you are paying for a second hand HP and are very good, I've had my Compaq for over 5 years now and am still currently typing on it.
HP is a pretty bad quality brand, and refurbished laptops are generally worse than regular ones.
Sony is a fine brand with decent quality, but their laptops are a bit overpriced.
I'd personally go with the Sony out of the two. Wouldn't risk getting a HP in the first place, let alone a refurbished one.
If you can find something from ASUS, MSI, Toshiba or Lenovo for the same price, get that instead.
These brands are a lot better; you'll get much better quality, and it'll most likely be faster too.
Maciej, you act as if Apple makes good computers. They're low quality, extremely overpriced (usually twice the cost of Windows equivalents), use a locked-down OS and brainwash their "victims".
And Sony doesn't only make cameras. The PS3 is quite good (when it came out at least) and they make nice TVs too.
Hp is a household name ,their biggest success was printers , recommend the hp laptop over the sony , test out a sony laptop at best buy wasn't impress and tested out a friends sony laptop it was horrible , slow boot ,graphics not good and the only good thing that came out of sony is two things playstation series and the walkman mp3 player.
Go with the Sony. Sony is a good brand and the laptop will last. Plus for the extra 80 bucks you can get a brand new laptop with a new warranty, which is way better.
Whatever you do dont get a sony there batteries arent so good. 2 dont get a refurbished computer they might have problems. I got me a nice Samsung laptop from best buy brand new for 550 and i like it alot , battery also lasts a long time. :)
I like to buy american, but I have to say sony makes a good quality product when it comes to laptops. I dont think either way would be wrong. Both are great and laptops right now are on sale.
i offered a Toshiba satellite tv for pc L305D-S5893 6 months in the past. Vista homestead top classification sixty 4 bit, 4gb ram, 250gb challenging rigidity, each and all the bells and whistles. i like it. human beings ***** approximately Vista yet i do no longer see it. in step with danger by way of fact i do no longer understand any further suited. it is my first computing gadget. It does what i want it to do. the certainty that I even have not grew to become this ingredient right into a paperweight on my own is astounding. I examine human beings saying the two good and undesirable issues approximately Toshiba's and each thing in between. One final piece of suggestion. in my opinion there is rather no ultimate. that's what's perfect for you. You and you on my own ought to stay with your purchase. good success with regardless of you have chose.
hp, better performance at better price and it lasts much longer than a laptop made by a camera making company that has no clue about computers in general terms apart from looks which arent as good as somthing like apple mac
Pink computers are always the best ones.
