That's a matter of opinion. I wasn't a fan of the ending either, I thought it was OK but rather underwhelming. The rest of the game, on the other hand, was pretty damn good and worth the money.
What the other guys tried to say was that it doesn't hurt to show some consideration for others who haven't played it yet, but plan to. Let them decided if the ending is good or not. Who are you to decide that for them. Would you like it if I ruined the plot to Hitman Absolution for you. As I have it already (thanks to my work, don''t ask, don't tell.)
Secondly, ask Corey May the lead writer why it ended that way, he wrote it. Regardless, it's their game, it's their decision. Chances are they want to introduce someone new and want to give quick closure to the character (far too quick in my opinion.)
Thirdly, is he really dead? It's not actually confirmed that he's dead, just implied, and we're left to assume he's dead. Who knows. Assassin's creed 4 is already in pre-production.
good question. Most probably because ubisoft wanted to move to pastures new. however ubisoft are going to continue making assassin's creed games, at least 2 more games to come
